The version remains 1.0.0. Open Purrge and choose Check for Updates to install the newer build.
Purrge 1.0.0 (build 20) · 20 October 2026
A simpler Home cleanup flow: ready temporary files are selected, closing open apps is optional, and one clear action permanently deletes your selection.
Skip individual open apps or continue without the remaining apps. Cancel stops before subsequent file operations, with live progress and honest partial results.
Running apps offer Quit & Uninstall, with one confirmation, normal save prompts, cancellable waiting and fresh safety checks. The action stays visible while scrolling.
Open verified Adobe and vendor uninstallers, with Creative Cloud or official instructions when needed, then check the result. Protected macOS apps show a clear explanation.
Cancelled cleanup details stay out of unrelated screens. Fewer repeated reminders and no idle status bar; fresh results offer details on request.
Purrge 0.9.0 (build 15) · 17 October 2026

Review and clean third-party Mac-wide caches, logs and selected leftovers through the optional administrator helper. Apple files and settings stay protected.
Uninstall eligible apps installed with administrator rights. Apps explains refusals, and Blender and FreeCAD can now be uninstalled.

Confirmed developer-tool cleanup commands, protection for active Claude Code versions, and more reliable cleanup of build folders containing hard links.
Purrge 0.7.0 (build 10) · 7 October 2026
A rebuilt Move to SSD. Move apps and folders to an external drive with copy progress and Cancel. Folders keep a link and apps get a small launcher, so they keep working from the same place. Confirm to free the space, Undo while the original is still on the Mac, or Move back at any time.
Every moved copy is checked byte for byte before anything is removed. exFAT drives can now hold folders.
Compare similar photos side by side, review Go build caches and Cargo downloads, and scan a single temporary-file category.
Home scans show live progress, and a stopped scan keeps the categories it finished for review.
Activity lists readable startup configuration files. Settings shows FileVault, firewall, Gatekeeper and System Integrity Protection status.
Faster cache scans. No pale mascot outline in dark mode, a matching appearance button, a welcome guide that fills the window and a steady Home scan box.
Purrge 0.6.0 (build 9) · 4 October 2026
Purrge 2.0 design throughout the app, with clearer navigation, a six-category Home dashboard, redesigned Apps and Developer views, onboarding and Settings.
An optional menu bar monitor for storage, memory, processor and battery information, with configurable meters and shortcuts into Purrge.
Cleanup now permanently deletes selected files after confirmation. Nothing goes to the Trash and deletion cannot be undone. Scanning alone never removes files.
Stop cleanup before subsequent items start. An active deletion finishes safely, and files already deleted cannot be restored.
Affected results refresh after deletion. Duplicate comparisons distinguish completed, stopped and empty results.
System applications stay out of the Apps list. Eligible app bundles containing framework links can be uninstalled without following those links.
Clearer license connection errors and a branded drag-to-Applications installer.
Purrge 0.5.0 (build 8) · 1 October 2026
Quit & Clean. If an open app is holding junk, Purrge asks once before quitting it. Apps quit normally so you can save your work, and nothing is ever force-quit.
Much faster cleaning. Moving large caches to the Trash now takes seconds instead of minutes, with progress you can follow.
Put back and Delete from Trash. Put the last cleanup back where it was, or permanently delete only what Purrge just moved — after you confirm.
Large & old files. A new list in Files shows your biggest and longest-unchanged files, so you can decide what to keep.
Leftovers from removed apps. Apps now shows settings and data left behind by apps you have already deleted, sorted by size.
Smarter Duplicates. Purrge keeps the likely original, skips empty files and can select every extra copy in one click.
Full Disk Access status. Purrge shows whether it has Full Disk Access and walks you through turning it on.
Menu bar storage (optional, off until you turn it on). Shows free space and what your last scan found. Settings → Appearance.
Weekly scan reminders (optional, off until you turn them on). A local notification from your Mac — nothing is scanned or cleaned on its own. Settings → Reminders.
Easier to read and use. A Text size setting, larger minimum text, clearer colours, Command-1 to Command-9 shortcuts for every section and better VoiceOver labels.
More reliable scans. A macOS permission prompt can no longer stall a scan, Cancel works instantly, and anything Purrge could not read is explained in plain words.
Purrge 0.4.1 (build 7) · 20 September 2026
