Your Mac protects your files. Purrge explains when access would help — and leaves the choice to you.
Full Disk Access
Full Disk Access helps Purrge find temporary files in protected folders. Without it, macOS may prevent Purrge from checking some locations, so your results can be incomplete.
This is broad access to protected data, not simply permission to see file sizes. Grant it only if you trust the app. You can continue with limited access and change your decision later in System Settings.
Allowing access does not start a scan or approve a cleanup. You choose what gets removed.
Folders and external drives
Purrge may ask you to choose a folder or drive when you want to inspect that location. macOS can request additional access for protected folders or removable volumes. These requests appear in context, when that feature needs them.
App Management
macOS may ask for App Management access when you use supported app-removal features. It allows changes to other applications. It is not required just to explore Purrge or begin an ordinary file scan.
Your files stay on your Mac
Purrge’s scan works locally. Scanning does not delete files. You review the results and confirm permanent deletion of selected files. Nothing goes to the Trash and deletion cannot be undone.
This website preview cannot scan your Mac, change its permissions, or clean its files.
